What Are Dabs and Concentrates?
Cannabis and hemp concentrates — also called "dabs" — are highly potent extracts of hemp or cannabis plant material. By removing plant matter and extracting only the cannabinoids, terpenes, and other desirable compounds, concentrates achieve potency levels far above flower. While THCA flower typically runs 15–25% cannabinoids, concentrates can reach 60–95%+.
Types of Concentrates
- Wax: Soft, opaque, crumbly or malleable. Easy to work with. Great beginner concentrate.
- Shatter: Hard, glass-like, amber-colored. High purity. Breaks into shards when cold.
- Budder/Badder: Whipped, creamy consistency. Good balance of flavor and potency.
- Crumble: Dry, honeycomb texture. Easy to handle and measure. Good for beginners.
- Live Resin: Made from flash-frozen fresh plant material. Maximum terpene preservation. Exceptional flavor.
- Live Rosin: Solventless — made with heat and pressure only. Cleanest extract. Premium price.
- Distillate: Highly purified oil used in cartridges. Very potent, minimal flavor without added terpenes.
- Hash Rosin: Pressed bubble hash. Full-spectrum, complex flavor, premium product.
How to Use Concentrates (Dabbing)
- Heat your banger with a torch until glowing red, then let cool 30–45 seconds (quartz)
- Place a tiny amount of concentrate (grain of rice or smaller for beginners) into the warm banger
- Cap with a carb cap and inhale slowly while rotating the cap
- Exhale, then clean the banger with a dry Q-tip while still warm
Dab pens are a simpler alternative — load a small amount of wax directly into the dab pen's chamber and vape without any torch or rig required.
