How to Dispose of Vapes the Right Way

• Use your county's household hazardous waste program. Orange and Osceola counties both run collection facilities and events that accept battery-containing devices. Search your county's name plus "household hazardous waste" for current drop-off locations and hours.
• Look for battery drop-off boxes. Many home-improvement and electronics stores host battery recycling bins; policies on whole devices vary, so check before dropping a full vape in a bare-battery box.
• Never bin a swollen or damaged device. A puffy, hot, or crushed vape is the highest-risk case — keep it away from anything flammable and get it to a hazardous-waste facility promptly.
• Store dead vapes safely until drop-off. A jar or box out of the sun and away from kids works fine. Batch a few and make one trip.
