What Are Hemp Seeds?
Hemp seeds are the seeds of the Cannabis sativa hemp plant. They are sold legally in all 50 states as agricultural or food products. Hemp seeds contain no significant cannabinoid content (CBD or THC) — they are nutritionally dense food items, not psychoactive products.
Types of Hemp Seeds
- Feminized Seeds: Engineered to produce only female plants (female plants produce cannabinoid-rich flowers). Used by hemp farmers to grow CBD or THCA flower crops.
- Autoflowering Seeds: Flower automatically based on age rather than light cycle. Easier to grow and faster to harvest. Popular with home growers in legal states.
- Regular Seeds: Produce approximately 50% male and 50% female plants. Males do not produce flowers but are used for breeding.
- CBD Seeds: Bred specifically to produce high-CBD, low-THC hemp plants.
- THCA Seeds: High-THCA hemp seeds — the plants grown from these produce flower that is high in THCA while remaining below 0.3% Delta-9 THC.
Are Hemp Seeds Legal in Florida?
