Grinder Types by Piece Count

2-Piece Grinder (Basic)

Two interlocking sections with teeth that grind material as you twist. The ground herb falls directly into the lower chamber. Simple, portable, and affordable. No kief catcher.

• Best for: Beginners, travel, minimalist setups.

3-Piece Grinder

Adds a storage chamber below the grinding section with holes for ground herb to fall through. Keeps ground material separate from the grinding teeth. Slightly more convenient than 2-piece.

• Best for: Users who want to grind and store a small amount.

4-Piece Grinder (Recommended)

The most popular design. Adds a kief catcher below the storage chamber — a fine screen that separates trichomes (kief) from your ground herb. Over time, the bottom chamber fills with potent kief you can use later.

Grinder Materials Compared

Plastic Grinders

Lightweight and cheap, but plastic teeth wear quickly. Small plastic shavings can occasionally contaminate your material. Not recommended for regular use.

Aluminum / Zinc Alloy Grinders

Titanium Grinders
