A nail (also called a banger) is the heating element of a dab rig — it's the cup-shaped piece where you place your concentrate to vaporize it. The quality and material of your nail has a huge impact on flavor, heat retention, and durability.
Nail Materials Compared
Quartz Bangers (Best for Flavor)
Quartz is the gold standard for concentrate enthusiasts. It heats up fast, retains heat well, and delivers the cleanest, most flavorful vapor. Quartz doesn't add any metallic taste. It does require careful temperature management — too hot and you'll burn your concentrate. A carb cap is highly recommended with quartz.

Titanium Nails (Best for Durability)
Titanium nails are nearly indestructible — they can handle the highest temperatures without cracking or breaking. They heat up quickly but don't retain heat quite as long as quartz. Some users notice a slight metallic flavor, especially when new. Season your titanium nail before first use.

Ceramic Nails (Best Heat Retention)
