A Complete Glossary of Terms
Banger — A quartz or titanium bucket-shaped nail used in dab rigs. The most common type of nail for concentrates.
Badder / Budder — A soft, creamy cannabis concentrate with a butter-like consistency.
BHO (Butane Hash Oil) — Concentrate extracted using butane as a solvent. Produces wax, shatter, and other forms.
Bowl — The rounded chamber in a pipe or bong where flower is placed and lit.
Carb Cap — A cap placed over a dab banger to trap heat and create efficient airflow for low-temperature dabbing.
CBD (Cannabidiol) — A non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in hemp and cannabis. Used for relaxation, pain, sleep, and anxiety support.
Cherry — The glowing ember at the tip of a lit joint or bowl that maintains combustion.
Combustion — The burning of material. Traditional smoking combusts flower. Vaporizers heat without combustion.
Concentrate — Highly potent cannabis or hemp extract (wax, shatter, live resin, rosin, etc.). Also called "dabs."
Dab — A small amount of concentrate heated and vaporized for inhalation. Also the act of dabbing.
Dab Rig — A water pipe specifically designed for vaporizing concentrates.
Downstem — The glass tube that connects the bowl to the water chamber in a bong.
Dry Herb Vaporizer — A device that heats cannabis flower below combustion temperature to produce vapor instead of smoke.
E-Nail (Electronic Nail) — A digitally controlled nail that maintains an exact temperature without a torch.
Flower — Smokable cannabis or hemp plant material. Also called bud or herb.
Fumed Glass — Glass treated with gold or silver vapor that changes color as the piece develops a patina from use.
Grinder — A tool with teeth used to break down flower into an even consistency for optimal burning.
Hash — Compressed cannabis resin. One of the oldest forms of concentrate.
HHC (Hexahydrocannabinol) — A semi-synthetic hemp-derived cannabinoid with effects similar to THC.
Hookah — A water pipe that uses heated charcoal to vaporize flavored tobacco (shisha) through a long hose.
Indica — A cannabis strain type associated with relaxing, sedating effects. Generally good for evenings and sleep.
Joint — A cannabis or hemp cigarette, hand-rolled in paper.
Kief — The crystalline trichomes that fall from flower during grinding. Collected in the bottom chamber of 4-piece grinders. Very potent.
Live Resin — Concentrate made from flash-frozen fresh cannabis, preserving maximum terpene content for exceptional flavor.
Nail — The heating element of a dab rig where concentrate is placed and vaporized.
Perc / Percolator — A water filtration device inside a bong that breaks smoke into bubbles for smoother hits.
Rosin — A solventless concentrate made by applying heat and pressure to cannabis material.
Sativa — A cannabis strain type associated with uplifting, energizing, creative effects. Generally better for daytime use.
Shatter — A hard, brittle, glass-like concentrate known for its high purity.
Shisha — Flavored tobacco mixture used in hookahs.
THCA — The acidic precursor to THC found in raw hemp. When heated, THCA converts to THC. Hemp-derived THCA is federally legal.
THC-P (Tetrahydrocannabiphorol) — A naturally occurring cannabinoid significantly more potent than THC. Found in small amounts in cannabis.
Terpenes — Aromatic compounds in cannabis that create distinctive flavors and scents and contribute to effects.
Wax — A soft, opaque cannabis or hemp concentrate with a wax-like texture. Easy to handle.
